We are Yu & Mi Company, a Japanese Food Company based in London. We are passionate about bringing you traditional Japanese products which help you to maintain a healthy diet.

More and more people are interested in adopting a healthy lifestyle, and the Japanese diet is proven to result in lower obesity, less heart disease and a longer lifespan. For many generations, the Japanese have been known for eating a diet filled with fresh unprocessed foods, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, with plenty of variety.

I must say it is not like that nowadays. As in Western society, there are lots of processed foods sold everywhere in Japan. We used to live a healthier life in the past, but not so much anymore. Of course, I don’t want to say let’s go back to those days, but I want to remind myself of the good things from the past, and pass these traditions down to my children.

I have been living in the UK for 10 years, and I wanted my children to enjoy some of the healthy foods and flavours which I had when I was a child. I loved the fact that I could source Japanese ingredients which I could cook at home but I wasn’t sure if people knew what to do with them!

With Yu & Mi, I really wanted to create some products which are convenient and easy to use, but are authentically Japanese, with really good health benefits. I also wanted to make sure that people know how to create tasty meals using my products, by providing simple and uncomplicated recipes.

I’m very excited to be able to introduce my first product, DRIED KONYAKU, to the UK market, and I have created some recipes which I hope will inspire you to enjoy cooking Japanese food at home. I hope you enjoy trying them!

P.S. Why did we decide to call ourselves ‘Yu & Mi Company’?

As you may imagine, it means ‘You (customer, retailer, consumer) and Me (us, our company, family and supplying farm). The name also reflects one of our values, which is a desire for good communication and collaboration through all of the different parts of Yu and Mi!
And, last but not least, I would like to say that the name also comes from my lovely kids, Yugo and Mio.
