Matcha is a premium green tea powder which is made in Japan, used for drinking as tea or as an ingredient in recipes. Matcha is really popular these days, and ‘Matcha Sweets’ have become the new craze in Japan! The good thing about Matcha is that, not only is it delicious, but it has lots of health benefits too: it relaxes the mind, and contains nutrients, antioxidants and fibre. When Matcha’s bitter taste is combined with sweetness, you get an amazing flavour and taste!

This recipe is inspired by Japanese traditional sweets, ‘Kuzukiri’ and ‘Kuro-Mitsu’. ‘Kuzukiri’ looks very similar to DRIED KONYAKU – SHIRATAKI NOODLES but is traditionally made from a starch called ‘Kuzu’, which contains a lot more calories, so we are going to substitute this with the healthier and lower calorie option of Dried Konyaku instead. ‘Kuzukiri’ is typically served in sweet black syrup made from black sugar. ‘Kuro’ means black and ‘Mitsu’ means syrup in Japanese.
